After School Program

GASP (Grattan After School Program) is a nonprofit, licensed after school program serving Grattan students in kindergarten through 5th grade. GASP believes that after school is an extension of the school day and that learning does not end when the academic day is over. By working closely with the Grattan Elementary School day staff, GASP seeks to ensure all children be more successful in school and life as they grow and move on from elementary school.

The program’s three tracks – homework, enrichment and recreation – provide students with a balance of activities each day. The program is organized into three groups – Kindergarten, First & Second Grades, and Third-Fifth Grades, with teachers, programming and facilities specifically aligned to students' developmental needs.

GASP's supportive and encouraging staff strive to assist children in developing and maintaining a positive self-image and encourage children to take responsibility for themselves and their actions while learning social skills such as problem-solving and cooperation with others. GASP aligns its behavioral expectations and discipline with the Grattan Elementary School’s policies so that expectations for children are consistent throughout the day.

GASP updates are available weekly in the GASP Corner of the Grattan Bee. Monthly updates are also sent by email to GASP parents and guardians. If you are not receiving these emails, let us know and we will add you to the list. We also encourage and welcome regular input. Please look for our mini surveys in the Bee as well as our annual surveys in January and May.

GASP is governed by a Board of Grattan parents. Board meetings are great opportunities to get to know other parents and program directors, build rapport, and discuss issues important to our community. The Board also welcomes new members. Meetings are generally held once a month, and all parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Email us for a meeting calendar at
